Bulldogs defeated by 'Pies!

Last Friday (26 May) was a great night out. Thanks to the AFL, to Ellen and all those who braved the chill of the night to watch Collingwood beat Western Bulldogs.
It was lovely to meet some new faces, and to catch up with everyone again. If anyone has any photos and isn't able to post them, feel free to e-mail them to me, and I'll put them up here.

Footy - Bulldogs V Collingwood

ras people: Footy 26 May - Bulldogs Vs Collingwood
Wearing your chosen colour of garb, and many layers of it to keep out the cold. Ellen has advised that we should meet beforehand at her office (9.1.7) at 5.45pm. The game starts at 7.40pm, but we need to be at the MCG by 6.30pm.

If you can't make the 5.45pm meeting time please email Ellen ASAP to make alternative arrangements. In fact, it may already be too late!!!

STOP PRESS (or refresh that web page) - Abdullah now wants to start proceedings earlier, meeting at Ellen's office at 4.30pm. I'll be at an RPA function at that time, so will see you all at about 5.45pm in any case. Does anyone actually read this blog? Sometimes I think it's just me and Su.

Footy 26 May - Bulldogs Vs Collingwood

Abdullah was just wondering how many of us are rocking up to the footy, Bulldogs Vs Collingwood on Friday the 26th @ the MCG, we should plan to do something after the match maybe? Perhaps we need to meet at a specific place beforehand, so that we can all be together inside. If you're interested, add a comment with your name to this post or create a new post.

End of Summer Party

We get the 'thumbs up'
Sparklers for young and old
Triumphant chefs
Some of the crowd
Happy people (must be the food)

The band
The electric rope
Guess who the mime artist is...
Some kind of maniac with the chicken?
The charcoal is set alight by a pyromaniac!

Some ras people ... had a great time on Tuesday night. There was food, music, games, great company and balmy weather to let us stay outside. Nobody noticed that Ellen and I both failed to deliver on picnic rugs too... Here I am 3 days later and it's pouring rain and not too warm. Winter is coming fast - we were lucky/blessed with Tuesday's weather.

Could anyone who has any feedback for us please add your comments to this post. We thought the evening was a success, but what matters is what did our students, their families and volunteers think?

Selected photos are posted here. I will put all of the available (57) images onto a CD and give it to Ellen soon.

Dodgy screen, poor eyesight? click the picture to enlarge!

Here it is. The event we've all been waiting for! The RAS End of Summer BBQ. Check it out and get back to Bonny or Ellen to let us know if you'll be there. That way, we can make sure there's plenty to eat and drink for everyone. Send us a short e-mail. Don't forget to add your name, how many adults/children are coming with you (if you're a RAS student) and whether you have any special dietary needs. We are catering for halal anyway, but vegetarians and others need to let us know. We don't want anyone to go hungry!

Please feel free to bring some of your favourite music on CD to share with us, and if you want to, some of your favourite food. This is optional, so no problem if you're busy.

Anything to share?

This week, I've been texting and phoning my 3 'mates'. (I avoid 'buddy' - it's so American). They are getting on fine so far. Some delays with student cards, but I suppose that's common during the peak registration period.

So, how come nobody is posting here? Are we concerned that we'll write too much or not enough? I think as we don't mention names, and keep comments fairly general, there is no problem.

Does anyone want to take part in a BBQ or picnic of some kind soon? Why wait for the 'official' BBQ on the 3rd? Comments please...
